Student Leadership

Since 2016, Hua Yi has embarked on a Community and Youth Leadership programme as our school’s signature Learning for Life Programme (LLP). All Hua Yians are given the opportunity to develop skills, dispositions and talents to equip them with the skills and support required to lead others as well as to serve the community.

Programme

DSA students will be given comprehensive support to develop their ability and interests in taking up leadership roles, and to achieve a well-rounded education in Hua Yi.

Highlights

Emplaced on a Student Leader mentoring programme to support their transition into possible leadership roles
Early enrolment in the school’s LLP Tier 2 programme to equip them with the skills and knowledge to facilitate their peers’ learning in the understanding of the Leadership Challenge Model
Exposure to varied leadership development experiences including participation in external student leader conferences, leadership workshops, facilitation and co-planning of school-based events
Opportunities to interact with overseas student leaders

Criteria

Students should submit as part of their application documents that attest to their experience and commitment to their sport in their Primary Schools.
Students should possess personal qualities and strengths that are indicative of their potential to be a student leader. This can be demonstrated using their CCA or VIA records, a personal statement and character referees.
Shortlisted students will be interviewed by a panel to determine if they will be a good fit for the school.
