Volleyball (Girls), Basketball (Boys), Badminton (Boys & Girls), Track & Field (Boys & Girls) & Netball
Sports participation plays a significant role in students’ character development and holistic education. Hua Yi has a long history of sporting excellence, with our volleyball girls attaining 1st and 2nd runner-up in the West Zone ‘B’ Division Girls Inter-School Volleyball Championship consistently and our basketball boys being shortlisted for national trials.
P6 students with a flair for volleyball, basketball, badminton or track & field can seek admission to Hua Yi through the DSA-Sec Exercise.
Programme
DSA students will be given comprehensive support to develop their ability and interests in taking up leadership roles, and to achieve a well-rounded education in Hua Yi.
Highlights
- Emplaced on a talent development programme to support their transition into the programme and school

- Participation in training and bonding camps with the school team
- Participation in friendly matches with other schools upon admission to school
Criteria
- Students should submit as part of their application documents that attest to their experience and commitment to their sport in their Primary Schools.
- Students should possess personal qualities and strengths that are indicative of their potential to be a member of a school sports team. This can be demonstrated using their CCA or VIA records, a personal statement and character referees.
- Shortlisted students will be invited to participate in a Sports trials conducted by school staff, followed by an interview to determine if they will be a good fit for the school.
- The trials are conducted based on the rubrics
o Dribbling, Lay-Ups & Shooting (Basketball)
o Servicing, Setting & Spiking (Volleyball)
o Servicing, Receiving & Footwork (Badminton)
o Sprints, Distance Running (Track & Field)
o Dribbling, Footwork & Shooting (Netball)
